About Us

Food helps us understand each other through the flavors and over the meals we share. Food inspires us to travel and experience new things. Food is something that holds communities together and keeps people happy.

Food sustains us. Food empowers us. Food transforms us.

At Füd for Güd we believe that food can be used as a tool for social good. Come fill your belly and open your heart.

Nikita, founder and tour guide of Füd for Güd

I’m Nikita. I grew up in the Richmond Hill neighborhood of Queens. After my mom and I immigrated from Guyana in 2001, I went to public school in New York City and fell in love with the five boroughs. When I was in high school my family nicknamed me “City Rat” because I used to roam around all parts of the city trying new flavors, discovering niche spots, and revisiting old favorites. I’ve carried the same spirit and love for my city since – only now, I use my passions for history, justice, and cooking too.

Our Tours

At Füd for Güd we center the working class, immigrant families like my own who have built up neighborhoods across New York City and made them what they are today. Our tours are historical and intersectional, meaning we talk about the history of the neighborhood with the understanding that food is informed by people’s lived experiences – from identity and culture, to religion, to the climate of the region, the agricultural practices, and the stories told for generations.

Our tours include stops at local restaurants, markets, galleries, mom and pop shops, and street vendor locations.

Fill your belly and open your heart – come with me to discover the cultural history of New York City through its flavors!
